How it works
Read what changed
Start with our newsroom. Each story links the official source and keeps the facts apart from our analysis of what it means for your business.
Check your own pages
Compare your website, ads and sales scripts with the current rules and rebate terms. Outdated claims cost trust and, sometimes, more than that.
Talk it through with us
We look at your market, your service area and your crew's capacity, and suggest what to fix first. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.
Water heaters are an odd corner of the trades. Almost every home has one, nobody thinks about it until it fails, and the rules around it change more often than most owners notice. Rebates move between programs, efficiency specifications are rewritten, and in Ontario the rental market comes with its own consumer-protection rules. WaterHeaterNews.ca follows those changes for Canadian contractors, with a date and a source on every story, and offers marketing built on the same facts.
What you'll find in the newsroom
The short answer: dated stories from primary sources, with contractor analysis kept separate.
Our newsroom launched with eight pieces. A few examples of what they cover:
- the heat pump water heater rebates we confirmed in October 2026, and the different equipment tests behind them;
- NEEA's draft version 9 specification, which matters in BC because BC Hydro's rebate uses NEEA's tier list;
- Ontario's door-to-door rules and its ban on consumer NOSIs, which shape how owned and rented tanks are sold.
Each story ends with a section headed "Analysis" so you can see where reporting stops and opinion starts.
Why water heater marketing is different
The short answer: two very different buyers search for the same product.
The first buyer has no hot water this morning. They want a company that answers, a price range and a time. The second buyer is planning ahead: an ageing tank, a rebate they read about, or a rental contract they would like to leave. That buyer reads, compares and waits. A marketing plan that treats them the same wastes money on both.
A quick worked example shows why. Suppose your average tank replacement is worth $2,400 in revenue and your gross margin on it is 40%. Each extra job adds about $960 of gross profit. If a campaign costs $1,500 in a month, it needs roughly two extra jobs to break even. Urgent no-hot-water searches can produce those jobs quickly; planned heat pump replacements take longer but tend to carry more value. We plan budgets around that split. Replace the numbers with your own; the logic holds.
How we help contractors
The short answer: four services, each tied to a real buying moment.
- Local SEO for water heater replacement: map-pack and organic visibility for the searches that happen when a tank leaks.
- Google Ads for no-hot-water calls: paid search that follows cold snaps and your crew's capacity.
- Heat pump water heater and rebate marketing: plain-language pages and follow-up for the planned buyer.
- Ownership-versus-rental marketing: inbound campaigns, built to fit Ontario's rules, for homeowners comparing owning with renting.
We are a digital marketing and business consulting service. We are not a plumbing or HVAC contractor, and we never install, repair or service water heaters.
Proof from our HVAC work
The short answer: real results from named clients, which you can check.
Our clients are heating and HVAC companies, and water heating is part of that work. CombiBoiler.ca reached 300% ROI and 300+ monthly leads. HVACDeal.ca generated 500+ leads at a 12:1 ROI. For HeatLand, a library of 850+ SEO articles went with a 300% lead increase within six months. These are past results, not promises; the results page explains what each one shows and what transfers to a water heater business.
Who is behind this site
The short answer: a Vancouver-based team led by Ali Sedighi, MBA.
WaterHeaterNews.ca is part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group of companies. The group is Canadian and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ali Sedighi holds an MBA in Technology Management and has 17+ years of experience in digital marketing, starting in 2007, and has built 150+ live HVAC websites. Our parent agency is HVAC.Agency; Ontario clients may also work with HVAC.Digital. Read more about us, or see regional coverage for every province and territory.
What a good water heater page answers
The short answer: the five questions every caller has before they phone.
Whether the buyer is urgent or planning, the questions are similar. Do you serve my street? Can you come soon? Roughly what will it cost? Do you handle the permit and haul away the old tank? Is there a rebate, and what are the conditions? A page that answers those five in the first screen, in plain words and with a phone number beside them, will outperform a longer page full of brand names. Our newsroom gives you the dated facts for the last question; your own team supplies the rest.
